The New Pilot of UP Athletics

The University of Portland has hired Scott Leykam to be their new athletic director. He replaces former athletic director Larry Williams, who left UP last year to take a job at Marquette University. Scott Leykam joins the Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to talk about athletics at the University of Portland. Scott was an associate commissioner for the West Coast Conference for the previous four years.

Scott discusses his career path leading up to being hired as the athletic director at the University of Portland. He talks about wanting to continue to build up the men’s basketball program. He then explains how he will improve Portland’s visibility on television and streaming media. Scott expresses why he wants to improve the relationship between alumni, Portland residents and the university. He also describes why he loves the community at UP.
