Streetcar Charlie on the BFT

There is a saying, “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself? Charlie Hales is doing just that. Hales joined John Canzano on the BFT on Friday and also took questions from Portlander’s. A few callers were irate and Hales handled it with great resolve. Hales helped bring in great city parks to Portland, one of the best in the nation. Hales says one of his reasons for running for mayor is because he loves this city. Hales says he will make the best decision for Portland no matter who it is with. “Although there are many key players, no one runs the town.” says Hales. Hales has had his hands in many business ventures in Portland including the parks bureau, the street car project and also was instrumental in helping the blazers secure the rose garden’s current lease.  Hales says he would love to have Triple a baseball back in Portland as well as the NHL. Hales says he is into community building, and that he’s is everyone’s mayor. Speaking on the Jefferson Smith situation, he says he gave Smith some advice and maybe he misinterpreted it. Hales says he never told Smith not to run for mayor. “Im running for the love of the city, not for the politics.” says Hales.

Being mayor is a full time commitment, and Hales says he’s ready.
