Going from a highly conditioned athlete entering the prime of their career to being paralyzed is a situation that tests a person in every capacity. Eric LeGrand, a former defensive lineman for Rutgers and a current member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers joins the Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to talk about his football injury while a defensive lineman at Rutgers.
On October 16, 2010, LeGrand suffered a severe spinal injury during a game against Army. LeGrand attempted to tackle Malcolm Brown of Army. They collided, and LeGrand lay on the ground before being carted off the field.
The road to recovery began shortly after LeGrand’s injury as he was transferred to Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation which is one of the nation’s leaders in spinal cord rehabilitation. Within a year LeGrand was standing upright and was regaining movement in his arms. LeGrand’s return to the field in October 2011 was chosen by Sports Illustrated readers as the Best Moment of 2011.
Eric was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has been an inspiration to not only people in the sports world but people all over the world. Eric will be releasing a book later this fall which will be an inspirational read. Who inspirers Eric? Listen to this riveting exclusive interview with Eric LeGrand only on 750 The Game.
