George doubts Thomas' Heisman hopes/US Presswire

August 21, 2012, 4:42 pm

The football programs at the University of Oregon and Oregon State seem to be going in opposite directions. While the Beavers are predicted to be in the basement of the Pac-12, the Ducks are once again the preseason top 5. Eugene Register-Guard college football writer George Schroeder and John Hunt, Beavers beat writer for The Oregonian join the Bald Faced Truth with guest host Bernard Bokenyi to breakdown Ducks and Beaver football.

George and Bernard discuss who will start for the Ducks at quarterback. According to George, the starting position is still a mystery in Eugene, but he gives the edge to Marcus Mariota. George also comments on De'Anthony Thomas’ chances of winning the Heisman this season. While he thinks Thomas has a chance, George argues that it will be too difficult for a running back to win the Heisman this year. George then offers his thoughts on the Ducks new uniforms. From novel to wacky, George says Oregon is solely responsible for unleashing a new trend in college football uniforms. Finally, George talks about the rest of the NCAA and the demise of the BCS.

Jon comes on to describe what is going on in Corvallis. Bernard asks Jon about summer scrimmage and how the Beavers are looking on both ends of the ball. Jon reveals that the Beavers defense is solid. He also predicts that Storm Woods and Malcolm Agnew will both see a lot of carries at the running back position. He describes Woods as more of a bulldozer in his running style and at the moment has a slight edge over Agnew. Jon then explains why Sean Mannion will be better this season due to a more balanced offense. Jon concludes by looking for a silver lining in the Beavers’ season.
