When most people think of sailing, they picture a small boat on a lake, on a beautiful afternoon, just lazily moving across the water.  Sailing brings visions of light breezes and funny looking captains hats, but make no mistake about it...Sailing is big business and with business comes competition.  Most of us are aware of The America’s Cup, the most prestigious sailing event in the world.

Locally, 2012 Oregon Off Shore is a fierce competition taking place in the waters of the pacific.

The event takes place starting near Astoria and sailing up to Victoria, Canada.

The Kickoff Party for 2012 Oregon Offshore is tonight at Kell’s.
