November 7th, 1991 is a day that the NBA, Laker Fans, and the world will never forget.  That was the day that Magic Johnson announced his retirement.  Magic, the five time world champion had found out a week before that he had contracted HIV.  The Lakers team doctor told him that he must retire in order to prolong his life and fight the disease.

ESPN will air “The Announcement” beginning Sunday at 6pm pacific.  The documentary recalls the life of Magic before and after he told the world he was HIV positive.  Nelson George, director of the show, joined Brian Berger this afternoon to discuss his documentary.
