Michelle Burch oversees the day-day operations of the Blazer Dancers.  She joined Brian on The Sports Insider Wednesday to talk about this year’s squad.

This past weekend, Burch and her committee made the final cuts for this season’s team.  Going into the finals, there were 34 girls.  But only 16 were invited to join the team.  Burch states that the girls on her staff come from a wide range of backgrounds.  There are students, teachers, dance instructors and one of the new members is actually the Vice President of a local company.  And for those single men out there, good news…Only one of the dancers is actually married.

Burch also went into detail about the process of becoming a dancer for the Blazers.  She insists that there is no sense of seniority or favoritism exhibited by the judges.  Everyone who wants to be a Blazer Dancer has to try out.  There are no holdovers from the previous season.  However, they do allow the dancers who were on the team in previous years to skip the initial rounds.

Take a listen as Burch outlines the practice schedule for her team.  And if you’re ever interested in sponsoring the Blazer Dancers, Burch said to call the Blazer offices and ask for her by name.  That number is: 503-234-9291.
