Bizofbaseball.com’s Maury Brown joined host Brian Berger today on The Sports Insider ready to talk baseball and give his thoughts on the Melky Cabrera testosterone cover up.

Brian and Maury start their interview discussing the player on everyone’s minds. Melky Cabrera was recently removed from 50 games for testing positive for testosterone. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he then attempted to cover up, and excuse his usage. Cabrera went as far as to create a fake website that explained what he was using and that it didn’t have testosterone.

Maury spoke on behalf of Melky, “I ordered from this website, thinking it was something else, and it was tainted with testosterone so you gotta give me a pass on this.” Maury continues, “It just looks really bad. It was something totally stupid. It surprises me anybody thought that they could get away with it.”

Maury also touched on the recent Boston Red Sox announcement that Carl Crawford will be undergoing surgery. With the $142 million contract Carl has with the Red Sox, has this contract officially gone downhill for the Sox?

“Right now it’s looking like a bust. I mean if he doesn’t come back after this surgery, to next season and look even remotely close. Then you can start to say ‘yeah it was a total bust’.”

Maury goes on to talk about Roger Clemens’ comeback, and also gives his thoughts on Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg. Listen to the Interview below:
