CBS Sports and Blazers Edge’s Ben Golliver came on Sports Insider to talk with Brian Berger about the Blazers upcoming season, as well as the current controversy surrounding Dwight Howard’s move to the Lakers.
Brian and Ben go into the Blazers right off the bat. They analyze Will Barton, and Ben talks about Barton’s history, and home life. They talk about his upbringing and how it led to a great appreciation for where he is at. Ben says that Will has handled his rise to fame very maturely, but to keep it up he needs to fill out a little more. A little more experience, and a little more muscle, will land him the potential to be a long time NBA player. He just needs to stay focused.
Conversation quickly changed to the biggest controversy at hand in the NBA; Dwight Howard leaving Orlando for the Lakers. Brian and Ben spend awhile talking and breaking down what this means for this season. Brian feels the season is essentially over before it starts, but Ben puts up a good argument that Oklahoma has a strong chance to give Lakers a solid run.
Finally, Golliver touches on Meyers Leonard, and how this Blazers season will depend a lot on his development. He needs to take the reins this year or the Blazers will be in a world of hurt.
Listen below as Brian and Ben discuss the future of both the Blazers, and the NBA itself.
