Zach Morris: He Does Have a Real Name

Playing the role of Zach Morris on Saved By the Bell, Mark-Paul Gosselaar was one of the most popular people on TV during the late 80s and early 90s. He joined Chad on the Morning Sports Page Monday to talk about his days as Bayside as well as some of the roles he has played since Saved By the Bell.
Gosselaar said he got the Saved By the Bell job after just getting back from a marine military academy. He said he had guest-starred on a few little projects here and there but he maintains that he got the part of Morris because he fit a look and a profile that the producers were looking for.
Chad was curious whether Gosselaar regretted having been type-cast as the Morris character. Although it was his first big break, he wasn’t particularly sentimental about it because he was so young and determined to succeed. It also helped that he got to work with so many great people who he could easily get along with.
After Saved By the Bell Gosselaar played the role of Detective John Clark on ABC’s NYPD Blue. Gosselor claimed that he couldn’t believe he was actually a member of the show when he first got the call saying he got the part. He adds that he was probably more nervous about that role than any other role he’s ever had because Blue was such a big hit.
Nowadays, Gosselaar plays the role of Peter Bash on TNT’s hit series Franklin and Bash. The series details two streetwise plaintiff attorneys that use law degrees and humor to entertain the courtroom every week. Gosselaar declares that if anyone learns something about the law during the show, he isn’t doing his job. The show airs every Tuesday at 10:00 pm.
Take a listen as Gosselaar talks about the good old days and he previews what to expect on the new season of Franklin and Bash.
