The Seahawks found themselves in a position to win the game as time expired on the clock. A 61 yard field goal attempt was on the table for Seattle to grab a surprising victory over an NFC power.
However the kick by Steven Hauschka’s was short and Atlanta held on to win 30-28.
It was a dominating first half performance by the Falcons as they got off to a 24-7 lead. However the Seahawks offense came alive in the second half. Tarvaris Jackson hit Mike Williams and Ben Obomanu for touchdown strikes. Marshawn Lynch added an eleven yard score on the ground and Seattle’s defense held Atlanta to just two field goals.
Tarvaris Jackson finished the day going 25-38 for 319 yards and three touchdowns. However the Seattle offense was one dimensional as they racked up only 53 yards on the ground. Lynch was the leading rusher with just 24 yards on eight carries.
Jackson also threw two interceptions on the day, one of them leading to a first half Atlanta touchdown. The Seahawks now stand at 1-3 as they travel to New York next week to take on the Giants. You can hear that game on Sports Radio 750 The Game, coverage starting at 8 AM on October 9th.
