OSU Football Player Collapses And Dies

19-year-old Oregon State Beaver freshman Fred Thompson died Wednesday night after collapsing during a pick-up basketball game on campus in Corvallis. 

Reaction has been swift from fellow students and athletes.  Many remember the freshman's broad smile and generous personality.  Thompson was from Richmond, California and a top 100 prospect.  He would've celebrated a 20th birthday on Sunday.  The defensive tackle was expected to fight for a starting job next season.
