Metta World Peace used to be known at Ron Artest. Mike Jarvis, used to coach the artist formally known as Ron Artest. Jarvis the Head coach at Florida Atlantic joins John Canzano on 750am The Game on The Bald Faced Truth to talk about his time at St. Johns University coaching Metta World Peace. Coach Jarvis was glad that he had a lot of prior coaching experience because it required all of it to coach World Peace. When asked by NBA coaches how he would deal with Metta’s outburst, he said he would call time outs, gather the team together and pray for him. He says for Metta it’s not about stats but about winning and that was always first thing. Coach Jarvis says that coaching is not about getting guy’s to adapt to his style but getting guys to adapt to a team style. The one common thread that all the great players he coached had was that they all wanted to win first, Coach Jarvis says coaching is also about getting the average player in the best position to help their team.
