The Portland Trail Blazers kick off their season tonight against a Laker team that is coming off the second night of a back-to-back and just had one of its most embarrassing losses in recent memory. Mark Whicker from the Orange County Register joined Chad on Flight 750 to talk about the loss and to preview the big matchup at the Rose Garden.
Whicker insists that there was really nothing to like about the game last night for the Lakers.
“It was just a bad not all around. They played pretty well in the first quarter and then after that they were outworked, outhustled and just outeverythinged by Dallas.”
Whicker also maintains that the way Mike Brown utilized Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash made very little sense.
“I think the most important stat was that of all those free throw attempts, neither Kobe Bryant nor Steve Nash had any, which indicates that they didn’t really have a lot of impact on the game offensively because you would expect at least one of those guys would go to the line at least ten times in a game like that.”
Whicker also implies that the feeling around L.A. is that Mike Brown is holding the Lakers back and he is the wrong man for the job.
“He can handle and deal with great players, but he’s the guy that fans are going to zero-in on and it’s going to be pretty ugly here if they keep losing games like this because Laker fans have been looking forward to this for a long time.”
Take a listen to the interview and be sure to check out the Blazers-Lakers game tonight at the Rose Garden.
