Dan Rib is the Co-creator of the viral sensation, “The Kobe that we Used to Know.”  The song is a cynical and humorous rip on Laker great Kobe Bryant, set to the tune of the Gotye hit, “Somebody that I used to Know.” He joined Chad on the Morning Sports Page Tuesday to talk about the song.

Rib claimed the inspiration for the song was a season-long process of seeing the team do great on certain days and awful on others.  He said it culminated in the second round of the playoffs when the Lakers went down versus an Oklahoma City team they should have been able to battle with.

He said that the playoffs brought about a trend of people other than Kobe standing around, going through the motions and the giving the ball to Kobe at the end of the clock.  He said he went to bed after the game two collapse versus the Thunder with the idea, then put the song together the next day.
Here’s the interview with Chad.
