Yahoo! Sports writer Mark Spears joined The Bald Faced Truth guest host
Brian Wheeler Friday to talk about the deal sending Dwight Howard to the
Lakers.
The four-team trade was reportedly finalized Friday. The deal sent
Howard to the Lakers, Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson to the Sixers,
Andre Iguodala to the Nuggets, and six players plus five draft picks to
the Magic. According to Spears, Howard leaving Orlando was a foregone
conclusion.
"They were going to make a move ... it was just a matter of what it was
going to be," Spears said. "They were just in a bad spot. You could tell
they weren't excited about it."
Spears also noted that a big winner in the deal was Denver, who acquired
All Star and current Olympian Iguodala. Spears said they likely were so
successful in the Howard deal because of the "savvy" they learned
through trading Carmelo Anthony a few seasons ago.
In the end, there seemed to be one theme that Spears pointed now that the deal is done.
"The rich will get richer," he said.
