February 19, 2012, 7:21 pm

It was exactly what the Ducks were looking for on the road as the put together a complete team effort down the stretch Sunday night from Paolo Alto. Oregon proved that they belong among the top echelon teams in the PAC-12 by holding off the Stanford Cardinal who looked to overtake Oregon in the standings. On the back of E.J. Singler’s crucial late game shots, the Ducks found enough magic to pull off a 68-64 victory from the Maples Pavilion.

Singler, on the night that he scored his 1,000th point for the Ducks, led his team with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. Oregon walked through the tunnel at halftime feeling pretty confident as they trailed by just three points through the first 20 minutes. However Stanford wasn’t about to roll over easily as they rallied their way to a 58-52 lead with just 7 minutes left in the game. Oregon found themselves down, in a hostile environment, but would find the energy to claw their way back and take the lead with 4:09 left thanks to a three-pointer from E.J. Singler...

Adding some late game momentum for the Ducks was forward Olu Ashaolu. The 6’7” Senior added eight points in the second half, on his way to 14 for the game, as he helped his team put this game out of reach for the good guys...

Stanford center, Josh Owens, led his team scoring 20 points with an efficient night from the floor going 8 of 13 in 31 minutes. The glaring fault for the Cardinal was from the free-throw line where the team shot just 50% making 11 of their 22 attempts.

An excited head coach, Dana Altman, spoke with the media after the game...

Oregon next takes the court Sunday Feb. 26th against for some Civil War basketball against the Beavers with the coverage starting at 4:00 PM on your home of the Ducks, 750 AM KXTG Portland.
