Derek Anderson's Friday Discourse
June 8, 2012, 10:46 am
Derek Anderson led the Scappoose Indians to a state title in 2000. He went on to start at quarterback for the Oregon State Beavers for three of the next four years. When he’s not busy quarterbacking the Carolina Panthers, Anderson is an avid golfer. He took some time away from his day at the links to join Chad Friday on The Morning Sports Page.
Sticking with the golf theme, Chad asked Anderson what he thought about Casey Martin earning a chance to play at the US Open. He said he was very impressed that with everything Martin has had to overcome, he is still following his dream.
Chad also made sure to ask Anderson about his teammate, Cam Newton. Anderson seemed pretty impressed with the season Newton had last year. He said it was amazing to watch his development through the season. When training camp began, he said Newton couldn’t grasp most of the playbook, and then he went on to have one of the most successful rookie campaigns we have ever seen from a qb.
Chad also wanted to know what it was like to play for a guy like Ron Rivera. Anderson said Rivera is a great guy. He’s a player’s coach, he’s excited about football and he loves golf – A perfect fit for someone like him.
Take a listen as the pride of Scappoose blesses us with his presence.
