David Vince’s life inspires everyone/Tampa Bay Times

May 24, 2012, 4:36 pm

At the age of two, David Vince was dealt a wicked curve ball by life: he had both his legs amputated below the knee after being diagnosed with tibia hemophilia. Despite growing up with two prosthetic legs, Vince thrived at everything he did. Former high school baseball coach David Vince joins the Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to talk about his inspiring career. In thirty successful years at the helm of the Clearwater HS baseball team, he racked up 470 victories for the Tornadoes. Now that’s he’s retired from coaching, Vince has written his inspiring memoir entitled When Life Throws You Curves, Keep Swinging.

Vince discusses his moving life story as a high school baseball coach who never had the opportunity to play baseball. He reveals how he got hired despite his lack of experience playing the game. He talks about how his early success proved his naysayers wrong and established him as a legitimate coach. He recaps some of the highlights of his thirty year career as the baseball coach at Clearwater High School in Florida.
