David Shaw Keeping Stanford on Top
The Stanford football program saw success when John Harbaugh was their head coach. Many critics thought the program would suffer a setback when Harbaugh left for the NFL. Harbaugh's successor David Shaw has taken the success of Harbaugh and built a consistent winner in the Bay Area.
David Shaw joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth to talk Spring football.
Coaches expectations of their programs every Spring vary from year to year and from school to school.
"First and foremost is stay healthy but secondly we've got some guys we have to replace," Shaw said of his expectation this Spring. "Every year we're all replacing guys and trying to find that mix of personalities and athletic ability and toughness in order to build a winning football team."
Having success at the QB position is essential in building a winning college football program. Stanford found a way to win with an inexperienced QB last season in Kevin Hogan.
"We're throwing the book at him this Spring," Coach Shaw said of challenging Hogan's growth. "We're throwing a lot at him because we want that growth we want to push for that growth, we think ability wise we think he's going to be good as anybody in the country."
David Shaw and John Canzano also talk about the new Jackie Robinson movie "42".
