Cain Velasquez is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and currently the second-ranked Heavyweight fighter in the world according to Sherdog.com. He joined guest host Chop on the Bald Faced Truth on Thursday to talk about his big rematch with Junior Dos Santos this weekend down in Vegas.
Velasquez maintains that in order to win the rematch, he and his team must stick to their game plan.
“We need to go in and execute it and have a sense of urgency. Kind of fight with a purpose, punch with a purpose, kick with a purpose and wrestle with the purpose of doing something.”
Velasquez also talked about the initial match and why did not end in his favor.
“I wasn’t doing what I needed to do…I stood on the outside way too long and just kind of waited for him. Our style of fighting is aggressive, high-paced style of fight.”
Velasquez also insists that nothing is going to distract him from his focus on the fight, so much so that he and his family are waiting until after the big showdown this weekend before they exchange Christmas gifts.
Take a listen to the interview and be sure to check out Velasquez and Dos Santos as they face off in this epic UFC 155 rematch Saturday on Pay-per-view at 7:00pm.
