In an international friendly at Jeld-Wen Field, Aston Villa defeats Portland 5-4 in penalty kicks after tying 2-2 in regulation.Despite the "loss," the Timbers walked away feeling better about themselves than they did after recent FC Dallas, Chivas USA, and LA Galaxy losses. They went punch for punch with a Premiere League team and played some energized soccer.
Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard until the 42nd minute when Aston Villa's Ciaran Clark found the back of the net.
