KANSAS CITY – 0-0 at halftime was halfway home for Portland, who looked to be the aggressor in their game Sunday morning/afternoon against Sporting Kansas City. It took just five minutes for that attitude to change as the home team scored first, off a set piece. The Timbers would knock for the rest of the second 45, but would ultimately come up empty, walking away from Kansas with no points to their name.

The game was still full of twists and turns, and even an appearance from the Timbers newest player (also the hardest name to pronounce) Vytautas Andriuškevičius. The silver lining of this loss? Portland gets another crack at Sporting Kansas City next week in the comfortable confines of Providence Park.

The Timbers will take on Sporting KC at 1:00 on August 7. Our coverage on the game will start at 12. Can’t wait till then to catch a Timbers match? They’ll play in the CONCACAF Champions League Group Stage on August 3 at 7:00.
